Everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve. They ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (morality and immorality). As being decedents of Adam, we were born as sinners, spiritually dead inside but Jesus Christ symbolized the tree of life, spiritually alive. So once you believe in Jesus Christ, you are born again. You will no longer be a sinner but forgiven for all your sins, you become the holy one. This only happens once that you are forgiven from God. You are not born again and again...3 or 5 times.
Pastor's lifetime story was very interesting to me. He gave a great example how it works. For instance, his children break a lot of things at home and one day, her 6 years old daughter broke a plate in the living room. She turned around, looked at her father, the pastor, and said, "I am sorry." The father told her, "It's okay, you are forgiven. Don't worry. We can buy a new one." She hugged her father and walked away. Five minutes, later. "Daddy, Daddy...I am really sorry," the daughter pleaded. The father said it again, "No worries, I love you. You are forgiven." Ten minutes, later, the daughter is now in tears, literally crying and apologized to her father one last time. The father let her know, it's okay and you are still forgiven.
I've been invited to my own "pity" parties or better yet, I was that 6 years old daughter. This problem not only occur for non-believers but believers, too. I mean, I am a Christian & I do slip out ever now and then. It does happen to us because we are not perfect human beings. I learned, though, the more you understand the Bible and the more you believe, Spirit in you will grow and grow. This process might take days, months, or years. The sins of your past are forgiven and the spirit will begin to work in your life to keep them from future sin and to conform them to the likeness of Jesus.
Romans 8:28 (NIV): "And we know that in all things God works for good of those who love him. who have been called according to his purpose."
