We are the citizens of God’s kingdom or you can say in his family, being the child of God (Eph. 2:19). God will do everything he can to protest us. Such as being an U.S. citizen. If you go to another country and get locked up, the U.S. has the power to do everything they can to bring you back home. In God’s kingdom, God has the power to guide, lead and protect you. Also, it doesn’t mean in God’s relationship, we should be his servants. John 15:15 (NIV): God want us to be his friends. Why see God as your boss and we become his employees? That’s awful. Most churches that I went through put you in that position. You have to volunteer, you have to do this, do that to be part of his kingdom. The church organizations miss the point of hearing the truth, and knowing the truth, & living out of that.

FRIENDS WITH...?
God did not save us to employ us. God save us to enjoy us.

Aye. We are friends of God, but are we not in servitude to Him as well? Paul goes so far to say that we are to be slaves to righteousness.
Jesus was friends with His disciples, but He also came and served them. God also gives us commands to follow.
So, I think the better question is, "Can you be a friend and a servant of God?"
I think that answer is an emphatic yes.
I get what Valerie is trying to say. Out of our love and joy for God we should desire to serve Him, not feel pressured to serve by what society says a "Christian" is. When society hears "slave for God" it is spun negatively to sound like like a job.
Praising God shouldn't make you feel like clocking in and out on Sundays, but instead should have you wanting to put in overtime to discover the wonder and joy He can bring to your life.
John, I know what you mean. I was basically saying don't put pressure of doing things...Well, obviously, my sweetie, Brandon, explained it well.
1 Peter 5:2-3 "Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock."
I agree, your post just made it sound like you were either only a servant or a friend.
>_< yeah, I should change the title in order to make sense of it all. Definitely didn't want to come across of that. thanks, though for the input, John. This helps me a lot!
