We can fall short to be humble and kind. No one is perfect. I had one guest checking in with me at the front desk. It happens all the time and most of the front desk clerks are sick of it. Any online reservations, the name you put on the reservation is the only one that will check in. The name provided must be you under your reservation, I.D., Credit card, and our registration card. If it's not you, it is simply under the online website's policy, we can not check you in. Of course, it's security purposes.
Well, this guest said he is the husband of this person's name because I have the last name. Regardless, she needs to be present and needs to give her signature on the registration card due to their policies. He turned to a kind person into a hissy fit individual. He was so furious and apparently, he believed that the front desk clerks don't have the common courtesy to check him in.
It was a 1st time I heard that particular comment: we don't have the "COMMON COURTESY." It's not we don't' want to do the kind deed to this guest but there are rules in this world. Sometimes, dumb rules but there are rules. I did want to break that rule and just check him in. LOL then again, I do want to keep my job. Overall, he did checked in 'with' his wife. She arrived hours later. I did had the common courtesy for his patience by giving them a free upgrade to a Jr. King Suite non-smoking room. Long story how we figure out to make it work. In any case even if he was furious with me, I did the best I could to be gentle and kind.
Is it funny how life works when you are in a hurry? It is funny how you don't' slow down and don't deal it properly? Keep in mind, everyone tries and always willing to be a loving person...even the high tempered ones.
James 2:8 (NIV) "If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, Love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing right."
