Problem: They were given $125 billion in taxpayer bailouts but they use $18.4 billion as bonuses.
I am not great of knowing about Politicians and Power but I know that they are filthy rich. Can you believe the top executive officers of top companies and banks were given bonuses and some of their troops were also awarded billions for their great performances of 2008? What…Are they serious? Their great performances of 2008? What performances because as I can see right now we are in a bad economic, in a process of recession, and furthermore, a large number of people are unemployed. The top executive officers’ salary is millions upon millions of dollars. In fact, it is plenty enough to provide the basic needs and more to live with their families and friends. Shouldn’t they act now to save poverty instead of getting bonuses for themselves? It seems the only way to keep them going or to keep them on their toes is having $10 million in their pockets rather than $200,000.

Don’t get me wrong?! I understand that everyone wants a butt-load of money. Heck, I want a butt-load of money but remember where your heart is in place when receiving it. Do you truly earn it? I don’t know if entering in mega millions or lotto counts as earning it. Maybe it can be counted as a gift-giving thing. It’s how you spend that mega millions or lotto money. Will you give your 10% or more to God? In all sincerity, money could drastically get in the way of your heart. Sometimes, it can take you away of what’s really important in life.
A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper. (Proverbs 28:25/NIV)
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:10/NIV)

I looooove politics. Sorry if this comment turns into a blog... on your blog! I agree.. and disagree.
I agree that money could drastically be a barrier between you and God. That is of course if its not put in its rightful place. Money is a resource. And every recourse that we are blessed with, we should use to honor the Lord! We cannot serve both God and money.

I disagree.
First off. Executives get paid millions because they make their companies multi-millions. They are paid upon their value and merit. I only really know about AIG.. they deserve thier bonuses! Hear me out.
In the recent Stimulus package there is an ammendment that states that any business recieving bail out money is still required to honor previous contracts. So the bonuses are lawful because they come from previous contracts. I am very angry that our government is "very angry" about these bonuses when they knew about them in the first place... and they still gave them the money.
I think its a very emotional subject that many things are often overlooked. The government wants to know WHO is recieving the bonuses. I would like to know WHY they are recieving the bonuses and do they deserve it. Even though AIG is losing money, the company is so large that there are executives who actually did earn their bonuses according to their contract. Bonuses are based off of merit. I have not heard anything about them not abiding by their contracts, so I can only assume that the executives and EMPLOYEES who are getting bonuses have actually earned the bonus because of what is stated in the contract.
This whole thing is being driven by emotion. People are getting upset because people are wealthy while other people are suffering and losing their jobs. America is a capitalist nation.. and people like executives and business owners.. are often accused of being greedy because they make millions. But america is also the land of Liberty so people have the right to be greedy. I mean i know that if I were making millions, because of what Jesus did for me, i would be very charitable with my money. But these are my convictions and others don't have the same. So I don't think other people should. They should be able to give freely to anyone they desire. And if they don't desire to be charitable, they have that right.
Yikes i guess i'm a little passionate about the subject. I truley think that today is the same as the time before the French Revolution... If you don't know much about it... I'll just say rich people got their heads chopped off! That was kind of a lot. Comment back so we can have further discussion.. YEAH!
oh I see what you mean, phil. I figured it was more like the companies had an option to give bonuses from the contracts, not that it's lawful. Either way, I believe only the top excutive officers probably don't earn bonuses by merit. Perhaps, I have to research more about the good things they have done in their duties. Lately, I haven't heard anything good about them yet in newspapers or tv news.
Yeah times are crazy. I heard this on the radio the other day. Its a letter from an AIG executive. You should read it. Its wicked legit!
