GOD LOVES HAITI.

There are so many people who speculate about Pat Robertson's thoughts/theory about the Haiti Earthquake. He strongly believe it's the devil who is involved to cause the earthquake. In fact, he concluded the devil are linked with other natural disasters such Hurricane Katrina, terrorist attacks, and legalized abortion. Every news channel, on YOUTUBE.COM, or the people are puzzled what he was saying on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."

He said, "You know...something happened a long time ago in Haiti...They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal...ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other. They are blessings in disguise." If you watch the whole 700 club segment on Pat Roberson, you definitely can see his compassion with the Haiti situation. Overall, I say that it is a powerful statement for the world to hear and most of the people will think he is over the boarder of being called "crazy old man." Some Christians were extremely shock of his words and took it as un-Christian. Billy Graham responded that "he must have misspoken but we need to get on the path of helping people right now. God loves the people of Haiti. He hasn't turned his back on Haiti."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do I think about Pat Robertson's thoughts/theory? It seems to me he believes that Haiti brought it to themselves, to have an earthquake just because they made a deal to the devil in the past. I don't know if it's true or not. I have no idea. And then of course, the history of racial issue and voodoo comes to play. Soon enough, his comment turned out to be almost racist. Maybe Pat Robertson need to clarify his comment to people that can relate with.

We will do anything and everything to understand why things happen and always want to know what's the reasons for it. There is always a reason. Yes, many horrible incidents occur in our daily lives, some will be extreme than others. Yes, we might not truly know the answer of the "whys" of an event to them, you, or me. Just keep in mind, bad things happen regardless if you are a Christian or not. God allow things to happen yet sometimes, no one knows why except God himself. I truly believe God loves us equally. It's a tragedy the earthquake killed up to 50,000 individuals and God is watching over us. Let us trust in him in the days of sorrow and grief. May at this time heal, love, and restore Haiti.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV) 1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

I'm not sure what I think about Pat Robertson's comments. I know that God is sovereign. Who are we to tell him how he judges and how he redeems?

I'm not a huge fan of Pat Robertson. And I definitely disagree with him on the points of the Devil bringing natural disasters on anyone. In my humble opinion, I believe that God does not allow Satan to have control of nature. If that were true, every Christian proclaiming the love of God would be berated constantly by natural disasters or some other nature induced thing. God is sovereign, as Phil said. And, as so, He chooses to allow nature to work as nature will. If God stopped a natural disaster, hurricane, earthquake or otherwise, think of the effect that would have on the rest of the eco-system. I'm not saying God cannot stop one from happening, I am saying, though, that He chooses to use them for His glory by giving us the opportunity to be His hands and feet.

See also Matthew 5:44-45:
"But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Haiti isn't our enemy, but I hope you get the idea of God's sovereignty.

I have great respect for Pat Robertson. He's spent most of his life sharing God's word and helping out the poor. I don't see any reason why he would lie about Haiti's pact with the devil. Haiti's original religion was indeed voodooism. 5% of them still practices it. They may have acted on it in ignorance but nevertheless, they made a mistake and I believe it is the right time for them to repent so there can be forgiveness, healing and restoration. This may sound offensive to others but topics about God, repentance and forgiveness had never been popular and has always been subject to cristicsm.

Regarding this statement from your blog:

God allows things to happen yet sometimes, no one knows why except God himself

My belief is that there is a scientific reason earthquakes happen. I don't believe in the God caused something to happen side of the explanation.

Hope you are having a great day, Valerie.
